Earth’s atmosphere is a thick blanket of gases. The gases in the atmosphere block the excess heat from the sun, but allow sunlight to enter.The sunlight heats the surface of the earth. At night, this heat is emitted back into space. This natural process that warms the earth’s surface is called greenhouse effect. Carbon dioxide, methane, water vapour and Ozone are some major greenhouse gas.
